Plumbing Service Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 2026
These Service Terms & Conditions apply to plumbing and related services provided by The Plumbing Lifesaver Pty Ltd, ABN 89 625 121 262, trading as The Plumbing Life Saver (“The Plumbing Life Saver”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Contractor Licence: 323183C
These terms should be read together with the quotation, work order, booking confirmation and any other contract or document issued for the work.
Where applicable legislation requires a particular written building contract or prescribed documentation, that documentation will also apply.
1. Our services
The Plumbing Life Saver provides plumbing and related services including, where applicable:
- general plumbing repairs and maintenance;
- blocked drain clearing;
- high-pressure water jetting;
- CCTV drain inspections;
- sewer and stormwater work;
- leak detection;
- hot water installation and repairs;
- gasfitting;
- drainage;
- plumbing fixture installation;
- excavation and pipe repairs;
- testing and diagnostic work; and
- associated plumbing services.
The exact work being provided for an individual job is determined by the agreed scope of work.
2. Quotes and scope of work
A quotation is based on the information reasonably available to us when the quotation is prepared.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, a quotation covers only the work specifically described in it.
A quotation does not include additional work that could not reasonably have been identified before work commenced.
Examples may include concealed pipework, previously damaged plumbing, incorrect previous installations, hidden blockages, structural obstructions, underground services, asbestos, rock, groundwater, inaccessible areas or other concealed site conditions.
If circumstances materially change the work required, we will explain the issue and seek approval for any variation where reasonably practicable before undertaking the additional chargeable work.
3. Acceptance
A customer may accept a quotation or engage us by:
- signing or electronically accepting a quotation;
- giving written approval;
- giving clear verbal approval where appropriate;
- instructing us to commence work after the scope and price have been explained; or
- entering into another written contract with us.
Any additional statutory contract requirements continue to apply.
4. Pricing and GST
Unless otherwise stated, prices supplied to residential consumers include GST.
The amount payable is the amount stated in the accepted quote or contract together with any properly authorised variations or other charges agreed with the customer.
We will not treat an unrelated or materially different item of work as being included merely because it is located at the same property.
5. Variations and additional work
During plumbing work it may become apparent that additional work is reasonably necessary.
Where additional work is not included in the original scope, we will, where reasonably practicable:
- explain what has been discovered;
- explain why additional work is recommended or required;
- advise the customer of the additional cost or pricing method; and
- obtain approval before proceeding.
Emergency work reasonably required to prevent immediate injury or substantial property damage may need to be undertaken before full approval can practically be obtained. Where this occurs, we will act reasonably having regard to the circumstances.
6. Access to the property
The customer must provide reasonable and safe access to the areas required for us to perform the work.
This includes access to plumbing fixtures, water meters, isolation points, drains, pits, hot water systems and other relevant areas.
The customer should advise us before work commences of any known:
- underground services;
- concealed electrical cables;
- private water or gas lines;
- asbestos or hazardous materials;
- structural issues;
- restricted-access areas;
- alarm systems;
- animals or other site hazards.
We are not responsible for inaccurate information supplied to us by the customer or another person, subject always to our own legal obligations and duty to exercise due care and skill.
7. Concealed and existing conditions
Plumbing work often involves systems that are concealed underground, behind walls, below floors or within building structures.
We will take reasonable care when carrying out work.
However, a quote or inspection cannot guarantee that all concealed defects or conditions will be identified before work commences.
Pre-existing faults, deterioration or non-compliant work may become apparent only after pipes, fittings, walls, floors, drains or other areas are accessed.
Where this occurs, we will explain the situation and any additional work recommended.
8. Blocked drains and drain clearing
Clearing a blocked drain removes or relieves the obstruction present at the time of service.
Unless the underlying cause is also repaired, a drain may become blocked again.
Recurring blockages can be caused by matters including:
- tree root intrusion;
- broken, cracked or collapsed pipework;
- pipe misalignment;
- inadequate fall;
- foreign objects;
- grease, scale or sediment;
- defective junctions;
- deterioration of existing pipework; or
- inappropriate materials entering the drainage system.
The successful clearing of a drain therefore does not, by itself, constitute a guarantee that the drainage system is structurally sound or that another blockage will not occur.
9. CCTV drain inspections
A CCTV drain inspection records the areas of pipework that the camera can reasonably access and view at the time of the inspection.
Visibility may be affected by water, debris, bends, junctions, pipe diameter, damaged pipework or an obstruction that prevents the camera travelling further.
A CCTV inspection should not be interpreted as confirming the condition of sections of plumbing that could not reasonably be viewed.
10. High-pressure water jetting
High-pressure water jetting may be used to clear or clean drainage systems where considered appropriate.
Older, deteriorated, damaged or defective pipework may already be in a weakened condition.
We will exercise reasonable care in determining whether jetting is appropriate. Discovery of deterioration during or following cleaning does not necessarily mean the cleaning process caused the underlying defect.
11. Leak detection and diagnostic work
Leak detection and plumbing diagnostics involve assessing available evidence and testing plumbing systems to identify a likely source of a problem.
Some leaks may be intermittent, concealed or affected by site conditions.
Where further investigation, opening of building materials or specialist testing is required, this will be explained to the customer.
Unless specifically included in the agreed scope, diagnostic work does not automatically include the cost of repairing the fault once it has been located.
12. Excavation and underground work
Where excavation is required, pricing may be affected by conditions that could not reasonably be identified beforehand, including:
- rock;
- concrete;
- buried construction waste;
- undocumented services;
- groundwater;
- unstable ground;
- unusually deep services;
- restricted machinery access; or
- contaminated material.
If these conditions materially alter the work required, they will be treated as a variation and discussed with the customer.
13. Making good
Unless specifically included in the quotation, plumbing work does not automatically include final decorative or specialist making-good work such as:
- painting;
- plastering;
- tiling;
- cabinetry;
- floor covering replacement;
- landscaping;
- specialist concrete finishes; or
- other non-plumbing trades.
Where access requires removal or opening of building materials, we will take reasonable care and explain the anticipated extent of access where practicable.
14. Customer-supplied products
Where a customer supplies a fixture, tap, appliance, hot water system or other product, the customer is responsible for ensuring it is suitable for the intended application unless we have specifically agreed to select or specify it.
We are responsible for exercising due care and skill when performing our installation work.
We are not the manufacturer or retailer of a customer-supplied product and cannot provide a manufacturer warranty on that product.
Additional work required because a customer-supplied item is defective, incomplete, incompatible or incorrectly specified may incur an additional charge after consultation with the customer.
15. Products supplied by us
Products supplied by us may also be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty.
Manufacturer warranties operate in addition to any rights the customer may have under Australian Consumer Law.
Where a product fault appears to be covered by a manufacturer warranty, we will reasonably assist the customer in identifying the appropriate warranty process.
16. Hot water systems and appliances
The performance and service life of hot water systems and other plumbing appliances can be affected by factors outside the installation work itself, including:
- water quality;
- water pressure;
- usage;
- electrical or gas supply;
- maintenance;
- environmental conditions;
- manufacturer requirements; and
- the condition of existing plumbing.
Customers should follow manufacturer servicing and maintenance requirements.
17. Existing plumbing and compliance issues
If we discover existing plumbing that appears defective, unsafe or non-compliant, we may recommend additional work.
Unless correcting that existing issue forms part of the agreed scope, it is not automatically included in the original price.
Nothing in these terms requires us to carry out work that would be unlawful or knowingly leave work we perform in an unsafe condition.
18. Approvals and other trades
Some work may require approvals, inspections or work by another licensed trade.
Unless expressly included in our quotation, fees or work performed by another contractor are not included in our price.
Where reasonably practicable we will advise the customer where another trade or approval appears necessary.
19. Appointment times and delays
We make reasonable efforts to attend within agreed appointment windows.
Plumbing work can involve emergencies, unforeseen complications and variable travel times.
If a significant delay occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to advise the customer.
An estimated arrival time is not a guarantee unless specifically agreed otherwise.
20. Cancellation and access
If the customer needs to cancel or reschedule an appointment, reasonable notice should be provided.
If a cancellation, after-hours attendance, special-order material or other circumstance attracts a fee, the fee will be disclosed before it is charged where reasonably practicable.
If our plumber cannot safely access the work area, we may need to postpone the work until safe access is available.
21. Payment
Payment is due in accordance with the quotation, invoice or contract applying to the job.
The customer must raise any genuine concern about an invoice promptly so that it can be investigated.
Nothing in this clause limits any rights available to either party under applicable law.
22. Workmanship
We stand behind the plumbing work performed by our team.
If you believe there is a problem with our workmanship, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide us with an opportunity to inspect the issue.
Where the problem results from defective workmanship for which we are responsible, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with our obligations and any applicable workmanship guarantee.
23. Workmanship guarantees
Where The Plumbing Life Saver provides or advertises an additional workmanship guarantee, that guarantee operates in addition to, and does not replace or restrict, rights available to customers under Australian Consumer Law.
A workmanship guarantee relates to our workmanship and does not automatically cover unrelated causes such as:
- normal wear and tear;
- damage or interference by another person;
- misuse;
- lack of required maintenance;
- movement or deterioration of the building;
- pre-existing defective plumbing;
- subsequent blockages caused by inappropriate material entering drains; or
- failure of a product due to a manufacturing defect.
Any additional written guarantee supplied for the particular work should be read together with these terms.
24. Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with rights and guarantees that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in these Service Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee, statutory warranty, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
Where the Australian Consumer Law or another applicable law gives a customer rights or remedies, those rights continue to apply regardless of anything stated in these terms.
25. Damage and responsibility
We will exercise reasonable care and skill while performing our work.
We are responsible for loss or damage to the extent that it is caused by our failure to meet our legal obligations.
We are not responsible for damage caused solely by a pre-existing defect, concealed condition or matter outside our reasonable control where we have otherwise exercised due care and skill.
Nothing in this clause limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
26. Photos and records
We may take photographs, videos, CCTV recordings or other records where reasonably necessary to document:
- existing site conditions;
- defects;
- completed work;
- quote preparation;
- warranty issues; or
- work performed.
Customer information and job records will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Images identifying a customer or property should not be used publicly for marketing without appropriate permission.
27. Complaints
If a customer is dissatisfied with our service, we encourage them to contact us promptly so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.
